Slate is the classic Irish roof, and it’s what most of Dublin’s older homes were built with. We fit and repair natural slate and fiber-cement slate, match reclaimed slate on period roofs, and lay it the way it should be laid. A family firm working slate since 1969.

There are two main families of slate, and the right one depends on the look you want, the age and structure of your roof, and your budget. Here’s the honest difference.
The most common natural slate in Ireland. A real stone roof at a sensible price, long-lasting and right at home on most Dublin houses.
The premium heritage choice. A deeper color and the traditional look for period and protected homes are at the top of the price range.
A man-made slate that’s lighter and cheaper, with a uniform finish. The sensible middle ground when the budget’s tight or the roof can’t take the weight of stone.
New slate roofs, full re-slating, and repairs to the slate roof you’ve got.
Most roof problems start small and quiet, then get expensive. If you have spotted any of these, it is worth getting them looked at before the next downpour.
We come out, get on the roof, and find exactly what is wrong.
You get a clear, itemised price. No call-out charge, no pressure.
Our own crew carries out the work, tidily and on the agreed date.
We show you what we did and stand over the work.
We look at the roof, the timbers and, for natural slate, whether the structure can take the weight before we recommend it.
We talk you through natural and fiber-cement options and give you a clear, written, fixed price.
We strip the old roof, sort any rotten timber we find, lay the underlay and battens, and slate it properly.
We finish the ridge, valleys, and leadwork; clear the site; and leave you the paperwork and workmanship cover.
A few recent repairs around Dublin. Real jobs, real homes.
Natural slate costs more upfront than fiber-cement or concrete tile, but it’s the longest-lasting roof covering you can buy, so over the life of the house it often works out the cheaper choice. What moves the price is the slate type and origin; the size and pitch of the roof; how complex it is (valleys, hips, dormers, and chimneys all add work); stripping the old roof; any rotten timber found once it’s off; the leadwork; and the access. Use the calculator for a guide, then book a free survey, and we’ll put a fixed price in writing.

No call-out charge, no obligation. We’ll tell you honestly whether it needs repairing or replacing.
Natural slate is the longest-lasting roof covering there is, and a well-laid, well-maintained one will easily outlive most other materials. Fiber-cement slate doesn’t last as long but still gives many years of good service. We’ll give you a realistic lifespan for the slate you choose.
Natural slate looks better, lasts longer, and suits period homes, but it costs more and is heavier. Fiber-cement is lighter, cheaper, and uniform, and it’s the sensible choice when the budget’s tight or the roof can’t take the weight of stone. We’ll be honest about which suits your house.
Natural slate is heavy. If you’re going from a light covering to stone, the roof structure may need checking and sometimes strengthening first. We check this at the survey before recommending natural slate so you’re not hit with a surprise once the old roof’s off.
Yes. We repair slipped and cracked slates, and on older or period roofs, we source matching reclaimed slate so the repair blends in rather than standing out. See our conservation roofing and roof repairs.
